JFK Surfaces siding

The finish is only as good as what's underneath it.

Siding takes the brunt of an Alberta exterior — wind-driven rain, hail, UV, and decades of freeze-thaw. The material you pick matters, but the install matters more: proper house wrap, correctly lapped and fastened panels, and flashing around every window and door that actually sheds water instead of trapping it.

We install and re-side homes across Red Deer, Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Olds, Ponoka, Blackfalds, Penhold, and the acreages and farms between them. Vinyl, fiber cement, board-and-batten, or metal — whichever fits your home and budget.

We don’t quote siding over the phone. Every house is different — square footage, trim detail, what’s underneath the existing siding. We come look, measure, and give you a real number in writing. Free, no pressure.

Siding materials

Every material, installed properly.

01

Vinyl siding

Lowest upfront cost, 20-30 year lifespan, low maintenance. The right call for most budget-conscious re-sides.

02

Fiber cement

Higher upfront cost, better impact and hail resistance, stronger resale value. Built for long-term ownership.

03

Board-and-batten

Modern farmhouse look, popular on acreages and new builds. Vertical panels with battens over the seams.

04

Metal siding

Shops, garages, and accent walls that need to shrug off heavy wear and Alberta hail.

05

Soffit, fascia & eaves

Quoted and installed alongside siding so the whole exterior transitions cleanly, not as a mismatched afterthought.

06

Full tear-off & re-side

Old siding removed, sheathing checked for rot, proper house wrap installed, then re-sided right.

What we plan for

Wind, hail, and freeze-thaw.

Proper house wrap. Every tear-off gets a fresh weather-resistant barrier before siding goes back on — the single biggest factor in how long a siding job actually lasts.

Flashing that sheds water. Windows, doors, and any wall penetration get flashed first, siding second. Skip this step and water finds its way behind the panels within a few winters.

Fastening for wind. Panels nailed to manufacturer spec, not just “tight enough” — Central Alberta wind will find any siding job that was rushed.

Common questions

What Central Alberta homeowners ask us most.

What's the best siding material for Alberta weather?

+

It depends on your budget and timeline. Vinyl is the lowest upfront cost with a 20-30 year lifespan and low maintenance. Fiber cement costs more but holds up better in hail-prone areas, resists impact damage, and typically adds more resale value. We walk you through both honestly based on your property and budget — see our full breakdown on the blog.

Do you install board-and-batten or metal siding too?

+

Yes. Beyond standard vinyl and fiber cement, we install board-and-batten for a modern farmhouse look and metal siding for shops, garages, and accent walls that need to handle heavy wear.

Can you re-side a house without tearing off the old siding?

+

Sometimes, if the existing wall assembly and sheathing are in good shape. More often we recommend a full tear-off so we can check for rot, re-wrap with proper house wrap, and flash windows and doors correctly — skipping that step is where most siding jobs fail early.

How long does a siding job take?

+

A typical single-family home takes about 1-2 weeks depending on size, material, and weather. We give you a real timeline once we've measured the house and confirmed material lead times.

Do you handle the trim, soffit, and fascia too?

+

Yes — siding, soffit, fascia, and eaves detailing are quoted and installed together so the whole exterior transitions cleanly, not as separate jobs that don't match.
