JFK Surfaces flooring

There’s no one best flooring.

There’s the best flooring for this room, this household, this budget. LVP for a basement that might see moisture. Hardwood for a main floor you want to own for twenty years. Tile where water is a given. We help you match the material to the room instead of pushing whatever has the best margin.

We install flooring across Red Deer, Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Olds, Ponoka, Blackfalds, Penhold, and the acreages between them — as a standalone job or as part of a full renovation.

We don’t quote flooring over the phone. Every room is different — subfloor condition, square footage, transitions between rooms. We come measure and give you a real number in writing. Free, no pressure.

Flooring materials

Matched to the room, not the room next door.

01

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)

Waterproof, dimensionally stable, the dominant choice for basements, kitchens, and busy households right now.

02

Engineered hardwood

The look and feel of real wood with better dimensional stability across Alberta's seasonal humidity swings.

03

Solid hardwood

The premium, long-term choice for main floors — can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life.

04

Tile

Bathrooms, entryways, and anywhere water is a given. Proper waterproofing and substrate prep underneath.

05

Laminate

A budget-conscious middle ground between LVP and hardwood for dry, lower-traffic rooms.

06

Carpet

Bedrooms and basements where comfort underfoot matters more than moisture resistance.

What we plan for

The subfloor is the whole job.

Leveling and prep. Nearly every flooring failure — squeaks, gaps, peaking seams, cracked tile — traces back to a subfloor that wasn't leveled or fastened properly first.

Moisture checks. Basement and below-grade installs get checked for moisture before anything goes down, especially under LVP and laminate.

Acclimation. Hardwood and engineered wood need time to acclimate to the room's humidity before install — skipping this leads to gaps or buckling months later.

Common questions

What Central Alberta homeowners ask us most.

What's the best flooring for a basement renovation?

+

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the dominant choice for basements — it's waterproof, dimensionally stable, and handles the temperature swings and occasional moisture that basements deal with better than hardwood or laminate.

Do you install hardwood flooring, or just LVP and laminate?

+

We install engineered hardwood, solid hardwood, LVP, laminate, tile, and carpet. Each has a different ideal use case — we'll walk you through what fits the room, your budget, and how the space gets used.

Why does subfloor prep matter for a flooring job?

+

Almost every flooring failure — squeaks, gaps, tiles cracking, LVP peaking at the seams — traces back to a subfloor that wasn't leveled or prepped properly before installation. We check and correct the subfloor before any flooring goes down, not after.

Can you match new flooring to what's already in the house?

+

We'll do our best to match an existing hardwood or LVP run, but exact matches on discontinued products aren't always possible. In those cases we'll talk through a transition strategy — a threshold, a different but complementary material, or refinishing what's there.

How long does a flooring installation take?

+

A single room is usually 1-2 days including subfloor prep. A whole-main-floor LVP or hardwood install typically runs 3-5 days depending on square footage and how much furniture and old flooring needs to come out first.
